Challanges

Key challenges included:

• Structural Limitations – All structural columns were already in place and could not be removed or repositioned.
• Compact Footprint – The available space was limited to 220 sqm, requiring strategic planning to accommodate the desired spa facilities.
• Underutilized Terrace Space – A large wraparound outdoor terrace took up valuable real estate that could be optimized for revenue-generating interior spaces.
• Cramped Layout – The original design felt restrictive, with small, enclosed spaces that lacked flow and openness.
• Missing Guest Facilities – There were no designated changing rooms, impacting the overall guest experience and preventing a seamless transition before and after treatments.

Solutions

To overcome the spatial and functional challenges, I implemented strategic design solutions that enhanced both guest experience and operational efficiency:

• Expanded Footprint – After assessing the site, I successfully convinced the client to extend the spa by 50 sqm, allowing for a more spacious and functional layout.
• Serene Relaxation Lounge – The added space enabled the creation of a relaxation lounge with five semi-private compartments, each offering tranquil views of its own private garden, providing guests with a peaceful retreat before, during, and after treatments.
• Luxurious Changing Facilities – Designed male and female changing rooms, each equipped with two high-end ultraviolet saunas for pre- and post-treatment heat therapy, as well as spacious rain showers to elevate the spa experience.
• Optimized Treatment Rooms – The new layout includes four massage rooms, one of which is a dedicated couple’s massage suite. Each room is designed for privacy and relaxation, featuring a private shower, dressing area, and dedicated relaxation space.

By seamlessly blending functionality with a sense of tranquility, the Pedause Valley Resort Spa was transformed into a luxurious wellness sanctuary.
