As a high-end, five-star-plus lodge with ultra-luxurious guest villas suspended over the Chobe River, no detail could be overlooked. With a premium price tag and some of the most exquisite views in the region, I had to pull out all the stops to ensure each guest receives an experience that exceeds their expectations.
As the guests come from all corners of the globe, Americas, Europe, and the Far East, and most are over the age of 50, exceptionally high standards and specific requirements had to be met. It was not only the practical elements that needed consideration but also the ergonomics, ensuring that everything is simple, easy and effortless to use.
I set out to design a utilities armoire that was not only aesthetically striking and highly functional but also delivered a unique and memorable experience, one that guests would not easily forget.
To enhance the guest experience, I designed a bespoke, freestanding piece of furniture—a multifunctional utilities armoire within the guestroom. This elegant unit houses everything the guest will need, ensuring a seamless and luxurious stay.
The utilities armoire serves as a fully equipped self-service bar, featuring:
A key design feature is that all functions are positioned at counter height, ensuring effortless preparation of drinks, coffee, and tea, as well as preparing snacks. This thoughtful design element enhances usability and comfort.
The unit is enclosed with folding, stacking doors that keep everything neatly concealed when not in use. This maintains a clean and sophisticated aesthetic that harmonizes with the rest of the space. Once the doors are opened, a beautifully illuminated bar and tea & coffee station are revealed, offering both practicality and refinement. This design element significantly enhances the overall guest experience, providing a memorable and luxurious touch to their stay.
